Summertime! The time when everybody takes it
easy and enjoy the nice
weather in his/her own way. Some of us enjoyed a BBQ together while
others
from the Netherlands visited fellow Imagican Immortals and players in the
US. Then there are those who leave Imagica for what it is and enjoy a
holiday period away from it all. Some can't get enough of it at all and
locate an internet cafe to just play imagica during their holiday.
Whatever
suited them best they did.
This period is always marked with low player visits, but it does not take
away that behind the scenes; we keep working for Imagica. The website is
being injected with dynamic pages and one of the goals there is to create
a
better communication between mud and website. We added an extra item to
our
todo list to write a more RP-like approach for gameplay. Also make sure
you
don't miss the upcoming RP week! For now we have a brand new edition of
our
magazine filled with Imagica goodies.

Code & World Update
===================
On the 14th of May Imagica's code and world was updated. The complete
list
of zones that were transferred was published in issue 10 of Imagizine,
and
included a couple of new hometowns amongst other interesting zones.
Website Improvements
===================
The website has been updated with new sections. There is still a lot of
information that needs to be added, and will be during the following
weeks.
A new tool has been added where you can see who's online in Imagica from
the
website's main page. Other new features are Archives, Contacts (not yet
filled out)
and Game Play information. In the Archives players of Imagica can send in
their
character information, stories and art amongst other things.

A little invitation for all of you!
I would like to invite you all to a small party at
my place when my house has been built. Everyone is
invited but if you are making trouble we just throw
you out. Bring food, friend and the most important,
the good mood. Even you Gods and Goddes are welcome.
I'll notice you all when my house is ready. I was
planning to have some raffle and dance also. I'll
give you all the information you need when the time
comes. Hope alot of you will come.

What in the World
An Update on "What's Going On"
Ok, let's talk about what's going on. First off, you may notice that I am
filling in for Shyla. No, this is not my regular column but let's see
just
how much we can find out. Our dear Immortal has gone off on unavoidable
personal business but will return as soon as possible.
But what about those other immortals who disappeared for so long? Could
it
be that they were off vacationing when we needed them so badly here?
Maybe
they went bowling for two weeks, or playing pool in bars. Maybe they
spent
that time on the beaches of a hot and misty peninsula somewhere. You'll
have to ask them, because they aren't talking. While you're at it, you
might
ask them what bowling and pool are. I'm thinking it's some rare immortal
sport.
Speaking of Immortals, yours truly must have been asleep when the Order
of
Serenity applied for clanship. Rumor has it that their leader is a
distant
relation to the leader of another very evil clan. And of course a little
bug
tells me that a certain cleric is still planning to wed a certain
vampire.
This Immortal thinks their name should be Disorder.
Weddings seem to be in season lately... or are they? A self-proclaimed
king
and his royal consort have been engaged for how long now? And yet,
wedding
bells are still not heard around the land. The "king" seems to have gone
missing and left his lady love at the altar. How will she respond now
that
her step-son-to-be has betrayed her for his new clan leader?
Clan leaders...clan leaders....
Has anyone seen the Council of Scales' clan leader? No sooner did he go
missing
than so did the rest of his clan, but I swear I heard somewhere that they
were
reorganizing. Maybe when the dragon shows up, so will his new members.
Well, that's what's happening in the world today. Be sure to look at this
column next time when Shyla has returned to add her flavor to things.

Following the previous world update we're now working towards the next
one,
which is expected to be completed after the summer (current schedule is
mid-end October).
Plans are to expand Imagica into unexplored parts of the world, as well
as
update the old world and replace the old zones taken from Standard
Circle.
This however, will take several updates to be accomplished, as it's too
big
a task to be completed in one go.
Anyone interested in building for Imagica can contact Lunah with their
ideas.

The quest team is working hard on RP week, which has been set somewhere
at the end of August or the beginning of September. Details will be
posted
as soon as we have a definite date. So far, we are looking forward to
three definite quests, a possible fourth, two events, and the final ball.
There will be, of course, the rp shops just north of Teldar, a raffle and
the rp voting.
We've decided not to have a tournament this RP week. We won't say exactly
why, because that will give too much away, but here's a clue. It will be
way too hot for fighting.

Interview with Larthos

In an isolated building exists a small room, sparsely decorated. There
are two
chairs sitting across a table from each other. One of them is occupied by
a
short figure with dark curly hair. A human male comes up to the door,
shuffles
through some papers, and speaks:
(Interviewer) Excuse me . . . Larthos, right? I wonder if I could ask a
few
questions about you. I’m interested in knowing what makes you tick.
(Larthos) Hmm? You wish to know me? Very well, step inside and I will
tell you
of the night.
(I)The night? I wanted to ask about you.
(L)Yes, that is what I said. I will tell you of the night, as we belong
to
each other. I am thrice of the night, but that will be explained soon
enough.
(I)Um, okay. Well start with the obvious. You are Larthos, right?
(L)I am Larthos, called by some the Deceiver. Or am I? If I am not, then
have
I not deceived you already? Or if I am . . . , can you trust me when I
say I
am?
(I)Uh, well . . . I don’t know. Do you lie as a regular thing?
(L)Have I ever lied, you ask? Well, of course I have. Who among us have
never
told something slightly less than the truth?
(I)No one, I guess . . .
(L)Exactly. So before you prepare to condemn another for a falsehood, it
would
be best that you remember your own.
(I)I suppose so, but how is that . . .
(L)Perhaps you would ask where this is going. I think better that you ask
from
whence it came.
(I)Right. Let’s start with that. You’re a halfling, right? Where are you
from?
(L)No, I am a hobbit, we are not to be confused with halflings, even
though we
share our language. We are taller than our halfling cousins, and lither
as
well. But that is not the point. My birth is unknown, as the earliest
memories
I have are of the streets. Even then, I endeavored to line my pockets at
the
expense of the world that spurned me. After all, if someone is not
watchful of
their possessions, then they are not deserving of them.
(I)So you’re a thief.
(L)A thief? Well, I suppose you could call me that . . . it is my
profession
now, even if it was simply a way to survive then. But the venom with
which you
say it is not appreciated. Just to show that I’m not all bad, though . .
. I
will return the coin purse that you carelessly left on your belt. (tosses
a
pouch)
(I)What? When did you . . .
(L)Heh. You didn’t see me take it? Well, be more watchful. Now then,
where was
I?
(I)Right . . . you were stealing in your youth . . .
(L)Oh yes. I was caught a few times by my mark, even a couple of times by
guards, but I managed to talk my way out of it. This face has advantages,
some
say I look like a cross between a human child and a cherub. (pauses to
laugh)
Well, I would never take away their fantasies. . . . Yes, I spent a
little
time as an unwilling guest of the constabulary, but I lived through it
easily
enough. The event that really sparked off my first life was getting
caught by
a member of the Thieves Guild. It seems I had encroached on their
territory. . . .
(I)Who caught you?
(L)Hmm? Who was it? Well, they were quite respected by those who knew
them,
but most of those who knew them did not know their ties.
(I)Respected? Please, who was it?
(L)Eh, It hardly matters since it was not anyone who would be known here.
(I)Very well, go ahead . . .
(L)Thank you. Now, as for what happened next . . . I figured I would soon
be
dead, so I decided to have a little fun. I awakened, with a nasty knot on
my
head, in front of the Guild master. After looking around and taking in my
surroundings, I tried to snag the Guild master’s pouch. I’m sure you can
imagine that it didn’t go over very well. But I healed. It seems they
liked my
guts. I was given an option to join up and learn, or leave on the penalty
of
death if I returned.
(I)So you joined?
(L)Not exactly. This was before I made my way here to this place called
Imagica. But I made some arrangements before leaving.
(I)Made your way here? So you’re not from here?
(L)No. I am from another place. And if what I was told is any indication,
it
is a place that is only dreamed of here. Perhaps not even existing from
this
side.
(I)So you can never return home?
(L)Oh, I’m sure I could. But I doubt I will.
(I)But you said the penalty was death if you. . .
(L)I know what I said. I said it, after all. I also said I made
arrangements.
I don’t take well to threats, so I left some rather incriminating
evidence of
their corruption in the constable’s office. Then I grabbed what I could
carry
from my stash and went to speak with a wizard who owed me a favor.
(I)What sort of favor?
(L)I did some ‘work’ for him once. I thought it might be better to make a
less ‘financial’ agreement with him. The service I performed is
irrelevant,
but the service he performed whisked me away from my homeland and
deposited me
here in Imagica. Not far from here, actually. I appeared here in Teldar.
Therefore, I adopted this place as my new hometown.
(I)I see. And what did you do here then?
(L)Well, I set about making myself known, and remaining unknown. It was a
struggle to adapt to this place, but I got the hang of it fairly quickly.
I
was assisted early on in learning the ways of your world.
(I)Assisted? By who?
(L)It matters not.
(I)Just curious . . .
(L) *growls menacingly*
(I)Okay. Uh. Moving on . . . Perhaps we could continue this outside. It’s
a
nice day for a walk.
(L)Are you a jester? Or did you not know?
(I)Know what?
(L)Ah. That explains it. You see, I would normally be resting now. My
kind is
quite prone to severe sunburn. So we only go outside at night.
(I)That’s ridiculous. Hobbits can go outside as easily as anyone else.
The
only ones who have a problem going out in the sun are . . . uh . . . oh
my.
(L) *grins a wide grin, exposing his fangs*
(I)Uh . . . I see . . . um. Right. . . er. . . Well, what are your goals
in
life?
(L)Goals? I have the same goals as anyone else. Happiness, wealth,
security,
and power. And to enjoy myself as much as possible while acquiring it
all.
(I)Seems quite normal. What do you consider success in those areas?
(L)Success? Hmm. Success in wealth is being able to afford to live as I
choose
at the moment. Security is knowing that I can take on what I need to
handle at
the time. And power is power. With power, one knows that they can have
others
take on tasks that they do not wish to do.
(I)And happiness?
(L)Heh. Having the other three, as well as achieving my more immediate
goals.
(I)What are those goals, if I may ask?
(L)Well, now. If I tell you, then it will unravel months of careful
planning
and work. But I will say that I am attempting something that could change
the
way certain people think.
(I)Certain people? Like who?
(L)Ah, again, that is mine alone to know for now.
(I)Hmm. Okay, then. Earlier, you said you were three of the night, care
to
explain that?
(L)Thrice the night, just a little thing I call myself sometimes. Yes, I
was
born in another place, and I remember nothing of my early youth. This
helped
form me into who I have become, though, and I do not regret it. I have
always
preferred the cool indifference of the moon to the angry blazing of the
sun.
There is where I was once the night. Beyond that, I first learned to
support
myself by acquiring things from others, and the best way to do that is to
stay
in the shadows. There is no time that holds deeper shadows than the
night. As
I learned more of myself, and more of thievery, I became twice the night.
As
for the third, I was reborn as a vampire. This is why I call myself
thrice the
night.
(I)What of that, though? How did you become a vampire? Are the rumors of
how
it happens true?
(L)Perhaps they are, perhaps, and they are not. Would you like to find
out?
There is only one way to truly find out. . . . *winks and grins*
(I)Um . . . no thanks. I really think I should go.
(L)Aww . . . well, if you must.
(I)Thanks for your time, goodbye.
(L)Wait.
(I)Um. Yes?
(L)Take this with you. *throws a coin purse*
(I) *Catches it and looks first to his belt, then in the empty bag* My
money!
(L) *chuckles* Not anymore. As I told you . . . you should have kept
better
watch of it. You obviously don’t deserve to have it.
(I)But . . .
(L) *grins, drops a note, and then simply disappears*
The note reads as follows:
There is a chance that everything I told you may be true. And there is a
chance it could all be lies. Perhaps I have given you insight into the
night.
Perhaps. But, then again . . . I never said you could trust me.
